A Brief Biography
Matt brings
over 25 years of experience as a non-profit executive and board member to consulting
with nonprofits to help them meet the challenges of organizational capacity and
sustainability. His areas of expertise
include fundraising, capacity building, marketing, short and long-range
planning, and board development.
In addition,
Matthew serves as adjunct professor teaching several courses in nonprofit
management at both Carnegie Mellon University
and Duquesne University.
Prior to becoming
an independent consultant to nonprofits, he was Senior Consultant with First
Side Partners. Matt served as Director
of Administration for the Pittsburgh Opera from 1992-1997. Before coming to Pittsburgh in 1992, Matt was the Executive
Director of Young Audiences of Eastern PA for 12 years. This followed an exciting earlier career as
an operatic and concert baritone. His
undergraduate and graduate work in Boston
includes Boston University,
Emerson College
and Longy School of Music in Cambridge.
Matt
continues to be active with organizations both as a board member and volunteer,
and is currently a board member of Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania and the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh with whom he also sings.
